The second Jumla apple festival was successfully
organise in Jumla by Kanjirowa Times,Jumla . The Minister for Land Reforms,
Cooperatives and Agriculture Bimala KC was the chief Guest of the one day Apple
festival. She said that farmers should benefited appropriately from apples through proper
marketing of apples, which are the main source of income for the Karnali state.
She said selling apple juice instead of Fanta and Coke in the market would make
the market attractive.
At a festival organized by the Kanjirowa Times Monthly Magazine, she said she plans to develop Jumla as an apple producing area.
In addition, ministers said , the Karnali State Government has taken initiatives such as apple orchard management, irrigation, cold storage, use of organic pesticides, from rewarding productive farmers. Mayor of Chandanath Municipality, Kantika Sejuwlal said , such festival are very important to promote Apple culture and farmers of Karnali ,so,center government and state government should work on it, Chief District Officer Durga Banjade said that the Karnali highway should be improved to take the apples grown in Jumla to the external market. She said that irrigation, fertilizers and organic pesticides need to be managed to increase the production of apples.
According to the organizer, the apple festival was organized for marketing and promotion of apple. During the festival, the line agencies connected with agricultural production have kept informative decks connected to the farmers for apple production, marketing. The best farmer was selected by bringing in his best apples based on color, size and quantity of sugar. The first, second and third peasants were awarded on the Red Delicious and Royal Delicious varieties on the basis of excellence on the basis of assessment. The ISCAG of Jumla participated in the festival to students of various colleges studying JTA.
