Jumli Marsi, a local paddy getting ready at farm alongside of Karnali Highway

Kalo Marsi; a special species of paddy suitable in high altitude and alpine climate grown in Jumla is an endangered species that grown at a small section in Jumla.
Presently, (@ republica) this variety of rice gained media spotlight after a photograph surfaced in media depicting then CPN-UML Chairperson Khadga Prasad Oli and the then UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal enjoying Marsi rice for lunch together with a businessman. The photograph has gone viral in social media after the Oli-led government advocated licensing more private medical colleges .
The Marsi grown in Jumla is considered as one of the Kashmiri varieties of paddy. It is brown in color and generally considered more fulfilling than normal rice and is considered a better alternative for diabetic patients.

Sinja,an important landmark of Khasa Kingdom

An outstanding valley that nestles isolated in the western mountains, Sinja Valley was once and for a long time a capital city of 12th to 14th century powerful western Malla or Khasa kingdom – as per the archaeological evidences found during the excavations.
